Project Description:
Our design brief from our client was to produce two extensions one to the side and one to the rear incorporating an interior remodel. We produced a design proposal to include a two storey extension a single storey rear extension to provide integral garage and utility and first floor bedroom and rear extension to incorporate a kitchen extension and study. We put forward the removal of the current dining room wall to create a large open plan family room that suited our client’s functionality.
During the design of the side extension there were a few design issues that we had to overcome one was the restriction of width of the extension to allow a vehicle adequate space, to over come this we decided to build a double leaf wall at ground floor level and install a large steel beam at first floor level to build the required cavity wall construction maximising the space within the garage area. The construction was carried out by Plan-it Construction Ltd and was fully completed within 16 weeks. |
