Full Project Description

We were commissioned to transform an existing cattle shed into a luxury 6 bedroom family home in Oakworth, West Yorkshire. The past history of this property made it clear that gaining the relevant approvals was not going to be straight forward.

The property had already been restricted by three previous attempts to gain planning permission by alternative architects; therefore with the challange set we began formulating a new design proposal for the property that was pleasing to the Greenbelt, enhanced its surrounds and exceeded our clients expectations.

Through a lengthy planning process we gained planning permission approval from the local authority on the first attempt. Within our proposed design we included extending into the roof space allowing 6 bedrooms, two with en-suites, feature gallery landing, dressing room, nursery and family bathroom.

The extensive ground floor included family kitchen dining room, formal dining room with full height glass link corridor, play room, utility, two studies and one of the largest family living rooms we have ever designed. A single story extension was also granted to the rear allowing a gymnasium to be included within the overall scheme.

As our client was going to carry-out the conversion as a self build we were appointed to assist them through the building process completing contract adminstration duties, project management and site coordination. The completed project was a massive success and was nominated for ‘Best Conversion Awards’ 2009.
