Full Project Description

SDA Architecture has been instructed to design two large dormers to an existing traditional bungalow in Orrell, Wigan. The brief developed with our client is to create as much additional space within the first floor to allow two further single bedrooms and a luxury ensuite shower room to the existing master bedroom. The ensuite will be designed to have eco-friendly WC and Wash hand basins that are also space saving in design to maximise the space within the restricted loft space.

Air tightness and sound transfer will be a major design element within the dormers as the property is adjacent the M6 motorway and receives large amounts of noise pollution from the major access route, specially design acoustic glazing and window units have been included with our design brief to limit the effect of noise pollution to the new additions.

The designs will be in keeping to the local street scene and will be constructed in materials locally sourced, a practical and functional architectural project that maximises all available space within existing roof voids.
