SDA has recently been commissioned to design a state of the art Ecological private residence in Billinge, Wigan, Lancashire. The site location is within Greenbelt and is surrounded by farmland, our initial design scheme centres around a single storey modern cubism styled bungalow with large expanses of full height glazing, a centre internal atrium courtyard garden with feature waterfall. Within this proposal we are going to introduce many Ecological-construction technologies these will include, Straw Bale used to construct the exterior walls, sheeps wool insulation, live green roof system, grey water collection, solar panels and ground source heat pumps to create a unique and sustainable modern family home.

The design is going to incorporate 4 bedrooms, 2 en-suites, family bathroom, open plan kitchen dining family room, formal living room, study, integral double garage, workshop within the basement, games room and cinema room. With the internal emphasis being on large open spaces the proposed structural form will be constructed from steel and sustainably sourced timber that will create frames that will interlink to form a number of goal post configurations thus allowing the expansive spaces to be formed free of any intermediate columns.

With far reaching views to the rear it is paramount that full height glazing is introduced, we are proposing to introduce radiating planar glazing to eliminate radiators within these glazed panels allowing the views to be uninterrupted, solely powered using renewable power produced via the solar panels. To reduce energy use we are going to design a heat waste exchanger unit within the home to recycle waste air within the building and reintroduce it back into the property via a heat purifier heat exchanger. SDA Architecture Ltd fully believes this will be one of the most bespoke luxury private properties designed to date.
