Project Description:
The site at Mellington Avenue is like many semi-detached sites very long and narrow to a degree and our client’s main requirement was to extend at ground floor level. Once on site we discovered that the best way of achieving this would be to produce a wrap round extension to the side and rear of the property.
Our main concerns for the extension design was whether or not to incorporate the existing rear ground floor bay window and French doors within our design, we decided to not include this area into the design as it was of good architectural merit and in our opinion needed to be a stand alone feature that needed to be retained fully. Our client’s ‘wish list’ included an increased kitchen area; to provide a separate Utility area and if possible a garden reading room that linked direct to the rear garden space from the new extension. We believe we obtained all our client’s requirements within our approved design scheme. |
